Observations on Fear & Flesh
There is the sin nature, the intrinsic character or stamp of mankind that Paul calls “the flesh”.
The flesh is afraid.
The flesh is afraid of what other people think.
The flesh is afraid of not having enough.
The flesh is afraid of not having its own way.
The flesh is afraid of rejection and persecution.
The flesh is afraid of ridicule and resentment.
The flesh is afraid of being wrong; it is cowardly.
The flesh is afraid of not having freedom, but in its fear restrains freedom.
The flesh is afraid to relinquish unbelief and pride.
Are you trapped in a flesh of fear, or free in a spirit of sonship?
